154,000 South Carolinians at Risk for Losing Health Insurance

Families USA released information today showing how how many South Carolinians in each congressional district could lose health insurance subsidies in the pending supreme court case (see the table below). The US Supreme Court will rule on King v. Burwell by the end of this month.

According to the Families USA data, the 154,000 people at risk now pay $86 on average per month for their health insurance through the Marketplace because of the premium subsidies through the Affordable Care Act. If these subsidies are ruled not to be allowed, the average premium will increase to $365 per month.
