The deadline for enrolling in health insurance coverage through the Marketplace and for that insurance to begin January 1, 2015 is TODAY, Monday, December 15th.
Consumers who want their new coverage to begin January 1st must pick a plan and enroll in it (click the green “confirm” button on healthcare.gov) by 11:59 pm Pacific time on December 15th. This means consumers on the east coast have through 2:59AM EST on December 16th to click “confirm.”
If you call the toll free number before 2:59AM EST, you might be asked to leave your phone number for a Marketplace representative to call you back. This will save your place in line so that whenever you finish enrolling even after the December 15th deadline you will still have your policy go into effect on January 1st.
