Small Business Owners It’s Time To SHOP for Health Insurance

Open enrollment starts tomorrow, November 15th, for citizens AND SMALL BUSINESSES to obtain affordable health insurance through the online Marketplace (healthcare.gov).

This will be the first year that small businesses (with 50 or fewer full-time equivalent workers) will be able to shop and enroll online for group health insurance plans that could result in a sizeable tax credit for offering this employee benefit.

You are going to be hearing a lot from me about SHOP (Small Business Health Options Program), the part of the Health Insurance Marketplace created by the Affordable Care Act.  The South Carolina Small Business Chamber of Commerce is partnering with the Palmetto Project to educated small business owners about the health insurance options available to them.

We will be conducting seminars across the state and holding webinars to reach as many small business owners as possible from now until September of next year.

We will also answer any questions you might have about SHOP or the Marketplace as well as providing lists of health insurance brokers/agents ready to help small business owners (a requirement for using SHOP).

If you would like general information about SHOP or would like someone to contact you, please email us at sbchamber@scsbc.org.

Stay tuned for announcements about seminars and webinars.
