U.S. Chamber exposed as Democracy-destructive in new book

For those who have followed my blog over the year, you know that I am not a fan of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.  Now Alyssa Katz has a new book that documents what many find so offensive about that organization.

The Influence Machine: The U.S. Chamber of Commerce and the Corporate Capture of American Life is a great read about a democracy-threatening leviathan.

When Americans hear the words “Chamber of Commerce,” many still think of the local business associations that spruce up Main Streets and sponsor Little League teams around the country. But the United States Chamber of Commerce is a different animal altogether. . . . Through its propaganda, lobbying, and campaign cash, the Chamber has created a right-wing monster that even it struggles to control, a conservative movement that is destabilizing American democracy as never before.

And in the interest of full transparency, Alyssa interviewed me for the book.  She included my observations and work with the South Carolina Small Business Chamber and the American Sustainable Business Council in the last chapter.

Get a copy and learn the truth about who the U.S. Chamber really represents and why our efforts to oppose it on issue after issue is critical in order to preserve the nation we love.
