5 Ways Government Policies Help Business Innovation

Sorry I have been AWOL this week with this blog.  Monday and Tuesday were consumed with preparing for the visit of the SBA National Ombudsman, Brian Castro.  In January I was appointed to the U.S Small Business Administration’s Region IV Regulatory Fairness Board by SBA Administrator Maria Contreras-Sweet.  This Board advises the Office of the National Ombudsman and assists in spreading the word about its services.

So on Wednesday and Thursday of this week Brian and I held Roundtables in Columbia and Charleston on how his office assists small businesses on regulatory concerns as well as with federal agency procurement and payment issues.  These meetings were very successful and I appreciate Brian visiting South Carolina to speak to small business owners and our resource partners.

On a related note, there is a great piece in the Conscious Company Magazine that addresses how government rules and regulations as well as other government efforts can help business innovation.  The authors are my friends David Levine and Richard Eidlin, both co-founders of the American Sustainable Business Council (of which I just happen to be the co-chair).
