New Jersey Delegation leading again

March 21, 2018

The New Jersey House Congressional delegation has once again taken leadership efforts to oppose offshore drilling for oil in the Atlantic.

On March 16, two letters were sent (all the Dems on one and a Republican on the other) to the Chairman and Ranking Member of the House Appropriations Subcommittee with oversight of the Department of Interior with this request:

…that the subcommittee include language in the Fiscal year 2019 Interior, Environment, and Related Agencies Appropriations bill that would prevent the use of funds to implement the Administration’s National OCS Oil and Gas Leasing Program for 2019-2024.

In January the Business Alliance for Protecting the Atlantic Coast called on Congress to take such an action as requested by the New Jersey House delegation.

Hopefully the Congressional delegations from the other Atlantic and Pacific Coast states will join in the effort to defund the Department of Interior for purposes of implementing a new five-year plan.
