What happened to National Small Business Week?

Every year the first week of May is recognized as National Small Business Week and activities are conducted across the country.

This year the week has been postponed due to Covid-19.  New dates have not been announced.

That is unfortunate because small businesses need to be recognized especially as they are struggling for survival in this virus-induced recession.

The good news is that the Small Business Roundtable, a coalition of national small business organizations, has announced its third annual Small Business Month with its partner PayPal.

This year’s partnership will recognize the unprecedented challenges and hardships the small business community is experiencing during the extraordinary economic fallout due to COVID-19.

The two organizations will work together to support American small business owners and entrepreneurs by hosting a four-part webinar series that will include:

  • A webinar focused on the CARES Act’s PPP and EIDL loans, loan forgiveness requirements, and how alternative lenders are playing an important role for underserved small businesses access to financing. (May 21, 3pm ET)
  • A webinar that will delve into optimizing digital efficiency in the face of an increasingly remote marketplace. (May 28, 3pm ET)
  • A webinar featuring actual small business owners, to highlight problems they’ve faced – and solved – in times of crisis. (June 3, 3pm ET)
  • A tele-town hall with congressional members and diversity business leaders that will discuss issues affecting minority-owned businesses and potential avenues to increase support for this community during the current pandemic. (TBD)
