Frank Knapp Jr., president of The South Carolina Small Business Chamber of Commerce, has filed as an individual to intervene in SCE&G’s proposed 9.5% rate hike. Knapp has intervened to oppose SCE&G’ rate increases numerous times since he co-founded the Small Business Chamber in 2000.
In the SCE&G electric and gas rate hearings he has appeared, the South Carolina Public Service Commission has reduced the requested rate hikes sometimes by up to 50 percent. As a result, business and residential consumers have been saved over $172 million in utility bills.
