Last Thursday Senators Lindsey Graham, Richard Blumenthal and Sheldon Whitehouse took to the U.S. Senate floor to argue for a $40 billion aid package for Ukraine.
The funds will enable the U.S. to continue to militarily help Ukraine fight against the Russian invasion as well as provide humanitarian and other needed economic assistance for the country.
The bipartisan speeches were aimed at Senators, all Republicans, opposing spending any more American dollars for Ukraine.
Senator Graham lecturing the members of his own party, 11 of whom would vote against the aid package, is particularly important. It demonstrates his ability and willingness to lead on an issue that he believes in even if he has to call out his fellow GOP Senators.
President Biden signed the Ukrainian aid package yesterday.
