The deadline for South Carolinians to enroll for a health insurance plan through the Health Insurance Marketplace has been extended to December 31, 2017. The official enrollment period ended on December 15th but due to Hurricane Irma’s impact on the state, South Carolina was notified this week that an extra two weeks has been added.
To date 218,435 South Carolinians have enrolled in a Marketplace health insurance plan. That is just 5.39 percent less than last year’s enrollment and accomplished in a 50 percent shorter enrollment period. Nationwide 8.8 million have enrolled through the federal Marketplace compared to 9.2 million last year.
