Legislative Update: 2005 Legislative Session a Success

With just minutes to spare, the South Carolina General Assembly passed Speaker David Wilkins’ Jobs Creation Act before the end of the 2005 legislative session on Thursday. This legislation, which provides for job tax credits for small businesses, along with the state income tax reduction for small businesses passed earlier by the legislature, were two bills high on The SC Small Business Chamber of Commerce’s priority list this year.

The success of these two small business economic incentives plus the other legislation on the Small Business Chamber’s legislative agenda, which have either passed or advancing in the General Assembly, makes the 2005 legislative session the best ever for small businesses.

A complete status report on the Small Business Chamber’s legislative agenda will be forthcoming.
