Tomorrow is the BIG Day! Join us!

Join us for a Rally Against Offshore Drilling
February 13th, 11AM
State Capital Front Steps
Columbia, SC

The Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) is coming to Columbia on February 13th to hold an “open meeting” from 3-7 to provide information to the public about the draft offshore drilling plan being considered for the Atlantic.

This is not a public hearing and there is no opportunity for you to tell the federal government “NO”.

So, the SC coalition opposing offshore drilling and seismic testing is holding a rally at the State House in Columbia to tell the feds to keep their hands off our Atlantic Ocean and our vibrant coastal economies.

                             “Resist Offshore Atlantic Drilling” Rally

Join us at 11AM on the front steps of the state capitol in Columbia. Hear from Congressman Mark Sanford, Mayor Steve Benjamin, state Senators and Representatives plus business, military and organizational leaders opposed to offshore drilling. We’re going to give BOEM a message that it won’t forget.

Then at 2:30PM we will hold another press conference at the Double Tree Hotel (2100 Bush River Road, Columbia). Then BOEM will have its “open meeting” at the hotel from 3-7.

                           Need a ride to Columbia?

Submit Your Comment to Oppose Draft Five-Year Plan

Tell BOEM in your own words why you oppose offshore drilling in the Atlantic and ask that the waters off the South Carolina Coast as well as the entire Atlantic Coast be left out of a new five-year outer continental shelf oil leasing plan.

The SC Small Business Chamber has prepared the business reasons for opposing offshore drilling that you might find helpful for your comments.  You might want to refresh your memory about the impact of the 2010 Deepwater Horizon oil spill.  Finally, here are some comments to BOEM from last year that might help you.

The deadline for comments is March 9th.

Directions for filing a comment online can be found here:
